Flowers create the perfect romantic feeling for a wedding. They add whimsy and create a fantasy land for the most important day of your life.
I certainly wanted a lot of flowers to help create the romantic french garden look I wanted, but there were ways to do it with out completely blowing the budget.
My bouquet was soft and stunning, the perfect look for a french garden with lavender, garden roses, ranunculas, lysianthus, freesia and dusty miller. The bouquet was bound with grey french lace and Pauline of ‘My Bouquet’ added a small ribbon so I could tie my husband’s ring to the lace. To save costs, we did posies for the bridesmaids (slightly smaller than a normal bouqet). To differentiate my maid of honour, we added some lavender to her posy to match my bouquet.
For the aisle we used one large, white hydrangea bloom, white trailing ivy and white ribbons. The trailing greens added the romantic look, and because hydrangea blooms are so large, we only needed one. The off-white ribbons blowing in the breeze just added that extra bit of whimsical fantasy.
For the aisle we chose white petals to adorn our walkway. We had them arranged in a gorgeous swirling motif pattern, and because I didn’t dictate that they had to be white rose petals, it helped keep costs down.
For the outdoor altar, I knew I wanted it to be a show stopper.
We had two large sandalwood trees, placed in lovely pots, covered in orchids and ribbons. It was so elegant and beautiful that it created the perfect spot for a romantic ceremony.
For a small fee, we had the florist transport the altar to the reception space and had them placed behind the head table. This added such a gorgeous and magical element to the reception and we didn’t have to pay for it twice!
For the table decor, I wanted to have a similar, dramatic effect that the altar piece provided, but didn’t want to pay for vases dripping with flowers. So we used small table top trees and created mini versions of the altar trees.
To fill in the runner space we had many mercury glass vases in an array of sizes and shapes. The asymmetrical style of the different vases added depth and texture to my otherwise classic look.
The finished look was so magical that not only was I in awe when I entered the ballroom, but our guests were as well! Pauline created the exact image I had dreamed up in my head. It was a beautiful, French garden fantasy! The perfect look for my romantic, dream wedding.
